In 2024, we were the host city and to mark the occasion, we increased our team size by nearly 50%, taking us to a record-breaking team of 31 children and young people, and 7 live donors!

It all started with a baton relay the week before when the Kinder Crew supported the Donor Family Network baton being passed at all the major venues for the Games, accompanied by an enormous pink organ donation truck.

We had the Opening Parade and Ceremony in glorious sunshine at Nottingham Castle where one current and one former athlete read out the Athletes' Oath. The individual sporting events had already kicked off earlier with archery, basketball and table tennis.  The next three days saw our athletes compete in golf, 10-pin bowling, obstacle races, tennis, cycling, swimming, 5-aside football, badminton and track and field athletics! By the end of the Games, we had racked up 33 medals: 13 golds, 10 silvers and 10 bronzes - more than Team GB had got in their record-breaking run at the Paris Olympics by that point!

Medals only give part of the story.  There were some heroic attempts that didn't get official medals - missing out in the 100 m final by 0.2 seconds, cycling 10 k in the punishing Friday afternoon heat as well as lots of first-time tries at different events.  The amazing Kinder Crew team again showed how good they are at supporting and looking after one another, particularly the 10 new members of the team.

When all was done, we partied, and do Kinder Crew know how to party?!

We are very grateful to all our financial supporters - many individual donors, NUH Charity and Kidney Care UK.  Our new kit was kindly provided by DC Training.

Here's a video summary, kindly put together by James from Volute:
