Urology services at Nottingham Children's Hospital are provided to most of the East Midlands with some services for children with chronic kidney disease provided for children from other parts of the EMEESY network.

There are separate urology departments in Leicester, Sheffield and Cambridge. The teams there work in partnership with the nephrology and urology teams in Nottingham. 


Much of the perinatal nephrourology is managed jointly by the urology and nephrology, together with cross-city fetomaternal medicine consultants. 

All aspects of paediatric urology are catered for at Nottingham Children's Hospital including:

  • Antenatal counselling for paediatric urology conditions
  • Hypospadias
  • Laparoscopic surgery
  • Upper and lower tract reconstruction
  • DSD (Disorders of Sexual Differentiation)
  • Stone surgery (minimal access and open) jointly with Adult Urology at Nottingham City Hospital
  • Transplantation including transplant urology
  • Dialysis access

In Nottingham, the following clinics take place:

  • Paediatric Urology Clinics shared with the Paediatric Nephrologists weekly
  • Specialist Neuropathic Bladder/Spina Bifida Clinics monthly
  • Paediatric urology-endocrinology clinic for children with disorders of sex development is held every 3 months.

The Young Persons Urology Clinic caters for adolescents and adults and takes place at Nottingham City Hospital Campus of NUH

Regional clinics take place in Derby, Chesterfield, Mansfield and Lincoln
