The renal youth development worker works with young people with kidney disease to help them achieve their potential.

Clare Alderson was appointed as Renal Youth Development Worker in April 2019. She is predominantly based at the Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham, but supports young people across the EMEESY network through social media contact. Clare is particularly interested in supporting young people to navigate adolescence whilst managing a long-term health condition and hopes to develop research in this area in the near future.

The NUH Youth Service provides support and opportunity for young people aged 11 to 25 years who have long term health conditions and disabilities, along with their siblings. The service offers young people the opportunity to express themselves and try new things; meet other young people; build positive relationships, develop key life skills and have fun.

The team includes:

  • Donna Hilton, Youth Services Manager
  • Clare Alderson, Senior Youth Worker
  • Sian Caulton, Senior Youth Worker
  • Chris Seager, Renal Youth Worker
  • Sarah Thompson, Emotional Health Youth Worker
  • Heather Hibbard, Rheumatology Youth Worker
