Medical doctors who look after children with kidney problems are called paediatric nephrologists.

There is a team of 8 consultant paediatric nephrologists at Nottingham Children's Hospital who have look after different parts of the EMEESY network and who have different specialised interests.

They are support by two registrars (senior doctors in training) who are part of the team for one to three years usually. There are also more junior trainee doctors who rotate into the kidney team every 4-6 months.

Dr Julia Sanpera

Dr Julia Sanpera is a senior trainee in paediatrics who has been training in paediatric nephrology in Nottingham since 2023.

Dr Karen Norman

Dr Norman was a senior trainee doctor in Nottingham and joined the team of consultants in 2023.

Dr Faezeh Sakhinia

Having trained in Manchester, Dr Sakhinia joined the team as a consultant in October 2023.

Dr Farida Hussain

Dr Hussain has been a consultant in Nottingham since 2003.

Dr Martin Christian

Dr Christian joined as a consultant in 2004 after training in Great Ormond Street and Guy's Hospitals in London. He is the lead consultant for the EMEESY network.
